How to treat shoulder periarthritis at home
Disease description:
I'm quite afraid of going to the hospital, but recently I developed shoulder periarthritis, which has made movement difficult—I can't even drive myself anymore. How can I treat shoulder periarthritis at home?
The following methods can be used for home treatment of shoulder periarthritis:
1. Local heat application: Apply a warm towel or hot water bag to the shoulder joint area. Perform heat therapy three times daily for about 10 minutes each session, ensuring the temperature is not too high to avoid skin burns. Heat application helps improve blood circulation and relieve pain and swelling.
2. Functional exercises: Perform wall-climbing exercises or hand-raising exercises without weights, repeating 10–20 times daily. These exercises help improve shoulder function and prevent muscle atrophy.
3. Massage: Gently massage the painful area in a clockwise direction with moderate pressure, taking care not to increase soreness.
4. Medication: If pain is severe, take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen tablets as directed by a physician.
If symptoms continue to worsen or show no significant improvement, prompt medical consultation is recommended.
