What is the difference between testicular cysts and orchitis?
Disease description:
I have recently experienced testicular distension and pain, and I'm unsure whether it is due to a cyst or inflammation. Could you please explain the difference between a testicular cyst and orchitis?

Epididymal cysts and orchitis differ in several aspects:
1. Etiology: Epididymal cysts are usually caused by trauma, infection, or inflammation, and are benign lesions; orchitis is mainly caused by bacterial or viral infections and is an inflammatory disease.
2. Symptoms: Small epididymal cysts may be asymptomatic, while larger ones may cause a sensation of heaviness, pulling, or distension pain; orchitis presents with testicular pain, swelling, fever, and if not treated promptly, may affect fertility.
3. Treatment: Epididymal cysts are often treated surgically, such as by cystectomy; orchitis is primarily treated with medication, and severe cases may require surgical drainage.
4. Severity: Epididymal cysts are relatively less harmful and rarely become malignant; if not treated promptly, orchitis may lead to severe complications.
