Symptoms of Candida albicans balanitis
Disease description:
My cousin has recently been experiencing pain in the glans. After a hospital examination, the doctor diagnosed it as candidal balanitis caused by Candida albicans. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with Candida albicans balanitis?
The main symptoms of Candida albicans balanitis include:
1. Erythema and rash on the glans: Red patches appear on the glans mucosa, with possible pinpoint-sized red papules on the surface, accompanied by significant itching of the glans.
2. Increased smegma: The amount of smegma may increase, becoming curd-like in appearance with an unpleasant odor.
3. Abnormalities at the urethral meatus: Symptoms such as redness and pain at the urethral opening may occur. Some patients may also experience urinary frequency and urgency due to urinary tract irritation.
4. Disease progression: As the condition progresses, pustules may develop with fluid discharge and rupture. In cases of severe infection, symptoms such as glans ulcers and erosion may also occur.
These symptoms are common manifestations of balanitis caused by Candida albicans infection. If related symptoms occur, timely medical consultation and appropriate examinations and treatments are recommended.
