When gastric ulcers recur, the symptoms usually include: 1. Upper abdominal pain: The pain often occurs half an hour to one hour after meals and may manifest as a burning or distending pain. It is rhythmic and cyclical, and tends to recur frequently. 2. Bleeding: Repeated irritation of the gastric mucosa may lead to bleeding. The patient may vomit blood that resembles coffee grounds or dark brown in color, and may pass tarry black stools. 3. Digestive disturbances: Symptoms such as loss of appetite, acid regurgitation, and belching may occur. Some patients may also develop pyloric obstruction, leading to vomiting. 4. Systemic symptoms: Due to repeated vomiting of blood and passage of black stools, patients may exhibit symptoms of anemia, such as pale complexion and fatigue. Weight loss may also occur.
