What does it mean to have excessive liver fire?
Disease description:
I have recently been experiencing dry mouth and a bitter taste, along with bad breath. This might be caused by excessive liver fire. What does it mean to have excessive liver fire?
Liver fire hyperactivity is usually caused by multiple factors, mainly including the following:
1. Poor emotional state: Negative emotional conditions such as anxiety, depression, or sudden outbursts of anger may lead to liver qi stagnation or excessive upward movement of qi, thereby forming liver fire.
2. Dietary indiscretion: Long-term preference for greasy and spicy foods, or excessive alcohol consumption, easily generates "dampness" and "heat" within the body, leading to excessive liver fire.
3. Heat pathogens in internal organs: Conditions such as wind-heat common cold may transmit through the meridians to the liver or gallbladder meridians, causing liver fire.
4. Disease-related causes: Chronic liver or gallbladder diseases or conditions such as hypertension may lead to deficiency of liver yin, causing relative hyperactivity of yang in the liver meridian and forming liver fire.
Patients with concerns should seek timely medical consultation.
