Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
Children with psoriasis usually do not develop pharyngitis. Psoriasis is an immune-mediated, polygenic hereditary skin disease, primarily characterized by scaly red patches or plaques on the skin surface, and may also cause symptoms such as psoriatic arthritis. Pharyngitis, on the other hand, is mainly caused by bacterial or viral infections and is not directly associated with psoriasis. However, streptococcal infection is one of the main factors triggering acute guttate psoriasis. Although psoriasis itself does not directly cause pharyngitis, if a child with psoriasis develops a secondary infection such as streptococcus, it may lead to the occurrence of pharyngitis. Therefore, if children with psoriasis exhibit symptoms of throat infection, active anti-infective treatment should be administered, and attention should be given to preventing other complications. There is no direct causal relationship between psoriasis and pharyngitis in children, but children with psoriasis still need to be vigilant about preventing infections and other complications.
