Can scabies cause urticaria?
Disease description:
Recently, I contracted scabies, and my skin surface often itches. Can scabies cause urticaria?
Scabies usually does not cause urticaria. Although both are skin diseases, their causes and pathogenic mechanisms are entirely different.
1. Different causes: Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by the parasitism of scabies mites within the epidermal layer of human skin, while urticaria primarily originates from allergic reactions. When allergens enter the body, the immune system mounts an abnormal response, leading to skin symptoms.
2. Different clinical manifestations: Scabies mainly presents as papules, vesicles, and burrows in the tender areas of the skin, accompanied by intensified itching at night; urticaria, however, manifests as wheal-like rashes and angioedema, with noticeable itching but no specific time pattern.
3. Different treatments: Treatment for scabies primarily involves topical application of scabicide agents and medication; urticaria requires identifying and removing the allergen, along with administration of anti-allergic drugs.
