Psoriasis on the scalp is not contagious. Psoriasis is an immune-mediated chronic inflammatory skin disease, and its development is associated with multiple factors including genetic predisposition, environmental influences, and immune system abnormalities. Although the scalp is one of the common sites for psoriasis development, regardless of whether it occurs on the scalp or other body areas, psoriasis is not contagious. Specifically, the causes of psoriasis are complex and include genetic factors, environmental factors, and immune system dysfunction. Currently, it is understood that psoriasis arises from the combined effects of genetic and environmental factors, with genetic factors considered one of the main contributors to disease development. Environmental factors such as infections, emotional stress, trauma, and surgery may also trigger or exacerbate psoriasis. Patients with scalp psoriasis do not need to worry about transmission; however, they should seek medical attention actively, receive professional treatment, and pay attention to daily care in order to control the condition and improve quality of life.
