Leukoencephalodystrophy is a hereditary demyelinating disease with diverse and complex symptoms. The main symptoms include motor dysfunction, such as spastic paralysis, myoclonus, and decreased muscle tone, which often begins in the lower limbs and gradually spreads. Patients may also develop ataxia, manifested as unsteady standing and a staggering gait. Additionally, visual impairments such as decreased vision or visual field defects, and intellectual disabilities such as poor learning ability and weak comprehension are commonly observed. These symptoms may be accompanied by developmental delays, and severe conditions such as quadriplegia and dementia may occur in later stages. Therefore, early detection and treatment of leukoencephalodystrophy are crucial.
