Dr. Liu Feng
For patients with acute myeloid leukemia M5, the 5-year survival rate after bone marrow transplantation can reach 50% to 60%. However, the recurrence rate after transplantation is generally high, approximately 70%. For patients with aplastic anemia who are younger than 40 years old, have severe disease, and have a suitable HLA-matched sibling donor for bone marrow transplantation, more than 80% of patients can achieve long-term survival. Some reports have even indicated an 8-year disease-free survival rate of up to 90%. However, it is important to note that some patients may experience recurrence after transplantation, often within 3 years post-transplant. The treatment becomes more challenging upon recurrence, and the prognosis is generally poor. Therefore, the survival time after bone marrow transplantation depends on multiple factors, including the underlying disease, age, and donor compatibility.
