Is a rheumatoid factor value of 415 normal?
Recently, I have been feeling unwell physically. After going to the hospital for examination, my rheumatoid factor (RF) level was found to be 415. May I ask, is this normal?
The rheumatoid factor level of 415IU/mL is abnormal.
The normal reference range for rheumatoid factor is generally 0–20 IU/mL. However, due to differences in laboratory equipment among medical institutions, reference ranges may vary slightly. In most cases, a rheumatoid factor level exceeding 20 IU/mL is considered elevated. A value of 415IU/mL is significantly above the normal range, suggesting the patient may have rheumatoid arthritis or another autoimmune disease. It should be noted that the rheumatoid factor level does not always correlate directly with disease activity, and a明显 elevation may not be present in all patients at the time of diagnosis.
Therefore, for a patient with a rheumatoid factor level of 415IU/mL, further evaluation combining additional laboratory tests, clinical symptoms, and physical examination is recommended to establish a definitive diagnosis.
