What is liver fire?
Disease description:
I currently have difficulty with bowel movements, and my stools are very dry. I also experience symptoms of red eyes and dry mouth, along with frequent dreaming during sleep. After examining me, the TCM physician said I have excessive liver fire. What can I do to reduce this excessive liver fire?
The following methods can help reduce liver fire:
1. Dietary Regulation: Consume more bitter foods such as bitter melon, almonds, bitter vegetables, and Kuding tea, as well as cooling fruits and vegetables like celery, watermelon, pears, and bananas. These foods help clear internal heat and alleviate symptoms of excessive liver fire.
2. Herbal Infusions: Herbs such as chrysanthemum, honeysuckle, forsythia, and mung beans can be steeped in water and consumed. These herbs have properties that clear heat, detoxify the body, calm the liver, and improve vision, making them effective for reducing liver fire.
3. Lifestyle Habits: Maintain a regular sleep schedule, avoid staying up late or overexertion, and ensure adequate rest. Additionally, maintain a positive and optimistic mindset, avoiding significant emotional fluctuations.
4. Medication: If liver fire symptoms are severe, over-the-counter Chinese patent medicines or herbal formulas, such as Long Dan Xie Gan Wan (Gentiana Liver-Clearing Pills), may be taken under the guidance of a physician to rapidly alleviate liver fire.
