What causes rectal bleeding?
Disease description:
Blood appears during bowel movements, and the amount of bleeding is significant. This is rectal bleeding. What causes rectal bleeding?
Rectal bleeding can be caused by various factors, mainly including:
1. Inflammatory reactions in the rectum, such as ulcerative proctitis, which can cause congestion, edema, and erosion of the intestinal mucosa, leading to bleeding;
2. Presence of abnormally growing tissues within the intestine, such as rectal polyps or tumors, which typically cause painless bleeding;
3. The patient may have ingested sharp objects that injure the rectal wall and cause bleeding;
4. The patient may suffer from certain bleeding disorders, such as systemic thrombocytopenia or severe infection within the rectum. Symptoms of rectal bleeding may include nausea, painful defecation, weight loss, fatigue, and blood in the stool or melena.
When these symptoms occur, prompt medical consultation is necessary for diagnosis and treatment.
