Etiology of Leukopenia
Disease description:
Recently, I have been feeling physically fatigued and weak. After visiting the hospital, I was diagnosed with leukopenia. What are the causes of leukopenia?

The causes of leukopenia can be mainly summarized as follows:
1. Impaired production: Decreased proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells, aplastic anemia, leukemia, myeloma, and other conditions that infiltrate the bone marrow hematopoietic tissue can all affect white blood cell production.
2. Impaired maturation: Deficiencies or metabolic disorders of folic acid and vitamin B12, myelodysplastic syndromes, and other conditions that cause impaired differentiation and maturation of hematopoietic cells.
3. Excessive destruction: Various drugs and autoimmune diseases can cause immune-mediated destruction of white blood cells, as can infections leading to excessive consumption of white blood cells.
4. Abnormal distribution: Abnormal granulocyte distribution caused by conditions such as allergy and endotoxemia.
In addition, female patients are more prone to develop leukopenia due to immune system diseases.
