The effectiveness of using iodophor for scabies is limited. As a commonly used disinfectant, iodophor is primarily applied for disinfecting the skin surface. It can relieve itching caused by scabies and reduce the risk of bacterial infection to some extent. However, iodophor does not have the ability to kill scabies mites, so it should not be used as the primary treatment for scabies. For the treatment of scabies, topical medications containing insecticidal ingredients, such as sulfur ointment or crotamiton cream, should be used according to medical advice. These medications can directly target and kill scabies mites, thus effectively treating the condition. Additionally, patients should maintain personal hygiene and avoid sharing clothing, towels, and other personal items with others to reduce the risk of transmission. Iodophor may be used as an adjunctive treatment for scabies but is not a primary therapeutic agent.
