What are the common diseases of the kidneys?
Disease description:
My father's kidneys have never been in good condition. He had kidney disease before, and had never undergone specific examinations. I would like to know what are the common kidney diseases?
Common kidney diseases involve multiple aspects including glomeruli, renal tubules, and blood vessels. These diseases include both infectious and non-infectious conditions, with varied causes and treatment approaches.
1. Glomerular diseases: such as acute nephritis, chronic nephritis, occult nephritis, and nephrotic syndrome. Among these, nephrotic syndrome may lead to secondary conditions caused by diseases such as diabetes or hypertension.
2. Tubular diseases: such as renal tubular acidosis and acute tubular necrosis, which affect the kidney's excretion and reabsorption functions.
3. Infectious diseases: such as acute pyelonephritis and chronic pyelonephritis, caused by microorganisms such as bacteria.
4. Vascular diseases: such as renal artery stenosis, which may lead to insufficient blood supply to the kidney.
5. Others: such as kidney stones, renal cysts, and kidney tumors. Among these, kidney stones are associated with metabolic dysfunction and infections.
