How to Differentiate Chronic Gastritis from Acute Gastritis
Disease description:
I have been experiencing abdominal pain recently, sometimes accompanied by nausea. I suspect it might be gastritis, but I want to know whether it is acute or chronic. Could you please explain how to differentiate between chronic gastritis and acute gastritis?
Differences between chronic gastritis and acute gastritis:
1. **Onset speed**: Acute gastritis starts abruptly and often occurs suddenly, while chronic gastritis develops gradually and has a longer disease course.
2. **Causes**: Acute gastritis is mostly caused by stress, medications, and acute infections; chronic gastritis is usually associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, long-term irregular eating habits, and autoimmune factors.
3. **Symptoms**: Symptoms of acute gastritis are obvious, such as heartburn, nausea, vomiting, acid regurgitation, and abdominal pain; symptoms of chronic gastritis are relatively milder, such as epigastric discomfort, loss of appetite, belching, and acid reflux, and symptoms may fluctuate in severity.
4. **Treatment and prognosis**: Acute gastritis can generally be cured by removing the cause and receiving symptomatic treatment; chronic gastritis requires long-term treatment and regulation, tends to recur easily, and carries a risk of malignant transformation.
