What causes a dull pain in the lower right abdomen?
Disease description:
I have been feeling very uncomfortable in my lower abdomen recently, and I have also experienced a dull pain on the right side. Could you please tell me what might be causing these symptoms?
Mild pain in the right side of the lower abdomen may be caused by various factors, mainly including:
1. Intestinal diseases: such as acute appendicitis, acute gastroenteritis, intestinal dysfunction, intestinal tuberculosis, Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. Among these, acute appendicitis typically presents as shifting right lower quadrant abdominal pain, while intestinal inflammation and functional disturbances may be related to diet and lifestyle habits.
2. Hepatobiliary diseases: the liver and gallbladder are located in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, but their pathological conditions may also cause mild pain in the right side of the abdomen, such as hepatitis and cholecystitis.
3. Female reproductive organ diseases: such as ruptured ovarian cysts and tubal pregnancy, particularly inflammation or neoplastic lesions of the right fallopian tube and ovary.
4. Other factors: such as exposure of the right abdomen to cold temperatures or consumption of irritating foods leading to gastrointestinal mucosal spasms, which may also cause transient mild pain.
