Duodenal Ulcer: What Should Not Be Eaten
Disease description:
I've been having some stomach discomfort these past two days, and after an examination at the hospital, it was diagnosed as being caused by a duodenal ulcer. What foods should be avoided with a duodenal ulcer?

Patients with duodenal ulcers should avoid the following foods:
1. Irritating foods: such as spicy peppers, garlic, mustard, and excessively cold or hot foods. These can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa and worsen ulcer symptoms.
2. Hard-to-digest foods: such as soybeans, sweet potatoes, and fatty meats. These increase the gastrointestinal workload and are not conducive to ulcer healing.
3. Foods that stimulate gastric acid secretion: such as milk, alcoholic beverages, coffee, and strong tea. These stimulate gastric acid production, further damaging the ulcer site.
4. Coarse foods: such as dried beef jerky and Chinese chives. These may abrade the injured gastrointestinal mucosa and worsen the condition.
5. Medication precautions: avoid long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., aspirin), to prevent exacerbation of intestinal mucosal damage.
