Is a blood pressure reading of 90 mmHg high and 59 mmHg low considered normal?
Disease description:
I have never had blood pressure issues before. During my recent blood pressure check, it was found to be 90 mmHg systolic and 59 mmHg diastolic. Is this considered normal?
A blood pressure reading of 90 mmHg systolic and 59 mmHg diastolic generally falls outside the normal blood pressure range and is considered low blood pressure. According to standards from the World Health Organization and most medical guidelines, the normal blood pressure range for healthy adults is a systolic pressure (high) of 90–139 mmHg and a diastolic pressure (low) of 60–89 mmHg. By this standard, a systolic pressure of 90 mmHg is at the lower edge of the normal range, while a diastolic pressure of 59 mmHg falls below the lower limit of normal, making the overall blood pressure level low.
Low blood pressure can be caused by various factors including malnutrition, anemia, and hypothyroidism, or may be related to physiological factors such as in individuals with long-term malnutrition or extreme thinness. If low blood pressure is accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, or cold sweats, prompt medical evaluation is recommended to determine the cause and implement appropriate treatment measures.
In daily life, individuals with low blood pressure should maintain healthy lifestyle habits, avoid excessive fatigue and emotional excitement, and focus on balanced nutrition and moderate exercise to improve overall physical health and blood pressure status.
