What to eat for pulmonary edema
Half a month ago, my older brother developed symptoms of difficulty breathing. After a hospital examination, it was diagnosed as being caused by pulmonary edema. May I ask, what should one eat to alleviate pulmonary edema?
Patients with pulmonary edema should choose warm-natured foods, such as chicken soup, lean meat, and dairy products, as well as foods rich in vitamin B2 and carotene, which can help enhance physical strength and immunity. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits rich in vitamin C, such as grapes, dragon fruit, oranges, pomelos, watermelons, and pears, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and can help relieve lung inflammation.
In addition, patients can moderately consume high-protein foods, such as eggs, milk, and soy milk, to replenish nutrition and energy. When experiencing worsened shortness of breath and dry mouth, patients can eat fruits with nourishing-yin and fluid-producing effects, such as pears, plums, hawthorns, and apples.
During the treatment of pulmonary edema, patients should avoid raw, cold, spicy, and irritating foods, as well as greasy and fried foods that are difficult to digest, to prevent worsening of the condition. At the same time, maintaining a regular作息 (作息 should be translated as "lifestyle" or "daily routine") and engaging in appropriate exercise can also help promote recovery.
