Dr. Huang Shichang
MRI can visualize nerves, especially major nerve trunks such as the nerve roots of the spine or situations where nerves are compressed due to lesions in the head; in such cases, MRI can provide relatively clear images. However, MRI may not clearly display smaller nerve branches. Additionally, MRI is an important tool for diagnosing nervous system disorders, capable of detecting common conditions such as encephalitis, meningitis, cerebral infarction, and cerebral hemorrhage, as well as spinal cord diseases and neuromuscular disorders. It should be noted, however, that MRI is not a universal diagnostic tool; for certain nerve abnormalities, other diagnostic methods may be needed in conjunction with MRI for a comprehensive evaluation.
