Is double eyelid surgery painful?
Disease description:
I have monolids and feel they are unattractive, so I want to undergo double eyelid surgery. I would like to know, is double eyelid surgery painful?
The pain experienced during the double eyelid surgery is relatively mild overall, with the main discomfort concentrated during the injection of local anesthesia.
1. Pain during anesthesia injection: As the needle pierces the skin and the medication is injected, patients may experience a certain degree of pain, similar to that of a regular intramuscular injection or blood draw. However, pain tolerance varies among individuals and is generally bearable.
2. Painless surgery process: Once the anesthetic takes effect, patients will feel little to no pain during the surgery. The surgeon will proceed with the operation—such as cutting the skin, removing excess fat and skin, and suturing—after the anesthetic has fully taken effect.
3. Postoperative pain: After the surgery, as the anesthetic gradually wears off, patients may feel some degree of pain or discomfort. However, this sensation is generally not severe and can be alleviated through oral pain medication, cold compresses, and other methods.
