Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
The main causes of granulation tissue growth due to paronychia are as follows: 1. **Inflammatory Stimulation**: As an inflammatory disease, paronychia continuously irritates the surrounding tissues, leading to the formation of granulation tissue. This granulation tissue is the body's response during the tissue repair process. However, if left uncontrolled, it may continue to proliferate and form noticeable granulation. 2. **Ingrown Nail Stimulation**: Paronychia is often accompanied by an ingrown nail, in which the nail penetrates into the surrounding tissues, causing persistent stimulation to the granulation tissue and further promoting its growth. 3. **Secondary Infection**: Bacterial infection is also a significant factor contributing to granulation tissue growth. Improper management of paronychia can easily lead to secondary infection, causing redness, swelling, and pain in the soft tissues, which may subsequently develop into granulation tissue.
