What Causes Teeth Grinding During Sleep in Adults?
Although I'm already 30 years old, I still grind my teeth at night while sleeping. Could this indicate some kind of health problem? I'd like to ask the doctor, what are the causes of teeth grinding during sleep in adults?

Bruxism in adults, medically termed nocturnal bruxism or tooth grinding, may result from multiple factors. It can be associated with stress and anxiety, as these emotional states may cause muscle tension during sleep, including in the masticatory muscles. Abnormal occlusal relationships, such as misaligned teeth, may also contribute to bruxism. Sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, as well as certain medications' side effects, can also lead to teeth grinding. Eating too much before bedtime and gastrointestinal dysfunction, which may stimulate digestive cells and trigger reflex actions, might also contribute to bruxism.
In terms of daily care, attempting to reduce stress and practicing relaxation techniques, such as yoga or meditation, may help alleviate bruxism. Using a customized occlusal splint at night to protect the teeth is also an effective solution.
If bruxism is severe, it is recommended to consult a physician.
