Can people with diabetes drink red ginseng tea?
Disease description:
Yesterday, my mother-in-law gave me a pack of Korean red ginseng tea. I'm worried that I shouldn't drink it because I have diabetes. I'd like to ask whether people with diabetes can consume red ginseng tea.
Diabetic patients can drink red ginseng tea. Red ginseng tea has functions of replenishing qi, nourishing yin, enriching blood, promoting body fluid production, improving stomach function, and strengthening the heart. Additionally, it has a low sugar content and can enhance human immunity. Drinking red ginseng tea in moderation can reduce plasma viscosity, promote endothelial cell physiological activity, and lower plasma endothelin levels in diabetic patients, thereby dilating blood vessels. It should be noted that red ginseng tea cannot replace medical treatment for diabetes; patients must still follow standard medical treatments and dietary management as directed by their physicians while consuming red ginseng tea. Moreover, red ginseng tea is relatively warming in nature and strongly effective in boosting qi and supporting yang, making it especially suitable for individuals with qi deficiency or yang deficiency. However, it is not recommended for individuals with yin deficiency and excessive internal heat, uncontrolled hypertension, or those who have undergone cardiovascular or cerebrovascular surgery.
