Dr. Yang Ziqi
Xinjiang Hemorrhagic Fever is a naturally endemic infectious disease caused by a virus and transmitted by hard ticks. The disease presents with diverse and significant symptoms. It starts abruptly, and patients often experience systemic symptoms such as chills, high fever, headache, waist pain, and generalized body aches, accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms including thirst and vomiting. During the course of the disease, the patient's face, neck, and chest skin become flushed, with conjunctival edema of the eyes, petechiae appearing on the soft palate and buccal mucosa, and petechiae and ecchymoses may also develop on areas such as the upper chest, axillae, and back; epistaxis may even occur. The fever typically lasts about one week, and hypotensive shock, gastrointestinal bleeding, hematuria, or uterine bleeding may occur around the time of defervescence. The total disease course is approximately 10–14 days. Additionally, patients may show laboratory abnormalities such as decreased white blood cell and platelet counts, and increased lymphocyte count. Individuals experiencing related symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.
