Can people with diabetes drink nut and lotus root powder beverage?
Disease description:
I felt unwell recently and went to the hospital for a checkup, where I was diagnosed with diabetes. I would like to ask whether people with diabetes can consume nut powder mixed with lotus root starch.

Diabetics are not advised to consume nut and lotus root powder mix. The main reason lies in how its ingredients affect blood sugar levels. Lotus root powder, which makes up about 93% starch, is combined with nuts to create this product. Starch breaks down into glucose, and excessive consumption can elevate blood sugar levels. In addition, although nuts contain beneficial nutrients such as unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins, they are also high in fat, and excessive intake may negatively impact lipid metabolism. For diabetic patients, especially those with poor glycemic control or abnormal lipid metabolism, excessive intake of nut and lotus root powder mix may lead to fluctuations in blood sugar and lipid levels, increasing the risk of complications. Therefore, diabetic patients should consume nut and lotus root powder cautiously, preferably when blood sugar levels are well-controlled, and only in moderate amounts. It should be counted toward the total daily caloric intake, while consumption of other staple foods should be reduced accordingly.
