Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
Taking a bath with sulfur soap cannot completely cure scabies, but it can provide some auxiliary therapeutic effect. Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by the parasitism of Sarcoptes scabiei mites on the skin. Its main transmission route is direct contact, including sexual contact and sharing clothing. The sulfur component in sulfur soap has some insecticidal effect; however, due to its low concentration, it is not strong enough to effectively treat scabies. Therefore, sulfur soap alone cannot cure scabies. To effectively treat scabies, patients should follow medical advice and adopt comprehensive treatment measures, including topical application of sulfur ointment, 5% permethrin cream, 25% benzyl benzoate emulsion, and other scabicide preparations. Oral administration of ivermectin may also be required. At the same time, patients should maintain good personal hygiene, bathe regularly, change clothes frequently, and air out clothing and bedding to avoid cohabitation or handshaking with infected individuals in order to prevent reinfection. During the treatment process, patients should take medications as scheduled according to medical instructions and monitor changes in their condition. If any abnormalities occur, they should seek medical attention promptly.
