Symptoms of internal hemorrhoids
Disease description:
I am a 23-year-old female. Recently, I have experienced anal itching and, during defecation, a swelling protruding from the anus. I am concerned that it might be internal hemorrhoids. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with internal hemorrhoids?
Internal hemorrhoids are a condition formed by the dilation of the anal venous plexus, with common symptoms including:
1. Rectal bleeding: Usually bright red blood that appears on the surface of the stool or drips after defecation. This is the most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids and typically occurs without pain.
2. Anal discomfort: Patients may feel a foreign body sensation inside the anus or experience mild heaviness or distension.
3. Itching: The skin around the hemorrhoid may become itchy due to irritation from secretions.
4. Prolapse of hemorrhoids during bowel movements: During defecation, especially when stools are hard, internal hemorrhoids may protrude outside the anus and sometimes require manual repositioning.
5. Mucus discharge: Internal hemorrhoids can cause increased anal secretion, leading to perianal dampness.
6. Mild pain: Although internal hemorrhoids are generally painless, severe pain may occur if thrombosis develops (thrombosed internal hemorrhoid).
In terms of daily care, maintaining good dietary habits, consuming more high-fiber foods to prevent constipation, and avoiding prolonged sitting or straining during bowel movements can help alleviate symptoms of internal hemorrhoids. However, if symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by thrombosis, prompt medical attention is recommended to avoid treatment delays.
