When does the fetus engage in the pelvis?
Disease description:
I am currently more than 8 months pregnant, and I'm looking forward to the birth of my child. I would like to ask the doctor, when will the fetus engage (descend into the pelvis)?

Most pregnant women will experience fetal descent into the pelvis between 36 to 38 weeks of pregnancy, approximately 2 to 3 weeks before delivery. However, the exact timing of fetal descent may vary due to multiple factors, including the mother's physical condition, pelvic structure, fetal size, and fetal position.
In first-time mothers, fetal engagement usually occurs earlier, around 38 weeks of pregnancy, while in women who have given birth before, the fetus may descend later, sometimes even during labor. Fetal descent serves as an important sign indicating that the baby's head has moved into the pelvis, preparing for the subsequent delivery process.
During fetal descent, pregnant women may experience symptoms such as a feeling of pressure in the abdomen, increased Braxton Hicks contractions, and frequent urination. These are normal physiological phenomena and generally cause no concern. However, if abnormal conditions such as persistent abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding occur, prompt medical attention is necessary.
