Food Allergic Urticaria Symptoms
Disease description:
I am 22 years old and recently developed allergic urticaria. I would like to know about the symptoms of food-induced allergic urticaria.
Food allergic urticaria is a skin disorder triggered by allergens in food (mostly heterologous proteins), with diverse and obvious symptoms.
Patients with food allergic urticaria often first experience skin itching, followed by redness, swelling, and warmth of the skin, which can significantly affect normal daily life. Quickly appearing on the skin are wheals of varying sizes and shapes, presenting as bright red or pale white patches. These wheals may exist separately or merge into larger areas, disappearing within a certain period but prone to recurrence. Some patients may also experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. In severe cases, patients may develop systemic symptoms including palpitations, shortness of breath, chest tightness, headache, and dizziness, and even anaphylactic shock, which can be life-threatening.
Immediate medical attention should be sought once the above symptoms occur.
