Symptoms of trachoma
Disease description:
Recently, eye discharge has suddenly increased, and there is redness inside the eyes. I suspect it might be trachoma. May I ask, what are the symptoms of trachoma?

Trachoma is a common chronic eye disease caused by Chlamydia. Its main symptoms include:
1. Itchy eyes: In the early stages, there is often a feeling of itchiness and discomfort in the eyes, especially in the conjunctiva of the eyelids.
2. Redness and swelling at the base of the eyelashes: The inner edges of the upper and lower eyelids may become red, swollen, and inflamed.
3. Increased secretions: The corners of the eyes may be sticky with thick secretions, sometimes purulent or mucoid in nature.
4. Conjunctival congestion: The white part of the eye (conjunctiva) appears pink or red, indicating an inflammatory response.
5. Pain and irritation: The eyes may feel painful or as if there is a foreign body present, especially under bright lighting.
6. Vision loss: If left untreated for a long time, trachoma can lead to corneal complications such as scar formation, which may affect vision.
If the above symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
