What causes vaginal itching?
Disease description:
I am a 23-year-old female. Recently, I have been experiencing persistent itching in the vulvar area, and I often feel compelled to scratch it. There are currently no symptoms such as rashes. May I ask what might cause vulvar itching?
Pruritus of the vulva may be caused by various factors, mainly including:
1. Infectious factors: Such as trichomonas vaginitis, candidal vulvovaginitis, etc., which lead to increased vaginal discharge. Inflammatory secretions may irritate the mucous membrane and skin of the vulva, causing itching.
2. Local lesions of the vulva: Such as eczema, neurodermatitis, leukoplakia of the vulva, and other dermatological conditions, as well as vulvar tumors, any of which may cause pruritus vulvae.
3. Poor hygiene habits: Such as neglecting vulvar cleanliness or over-cleansing leading to dryness of the vulvar skin, both of which may cause itching.
4. Allergies: Drug allergies or contact dermatitis may also lead to vulvar itching.
5. Systemic diseases: Such as diabetes, jaundice, anemia, and others, which may also cause pruritus of the vulva.
If symptoms persist or worsen, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for diagnosis and treatment.
