The duration for which calamine lotion should be left on the skin before washing off mainly depends on individual circumstances and treatment needs. Generally, calamine lotion does not need to be washed off after application, as its fine particles adhere to the skin surface and exert a cooling and itching-relieving effect by increasing the heat dissipation area. However, if applied multiple times, the small particles may stick to the skin surface and affect the effectiveness of subsequent topical treatments. In such cases, you may wash it off before the next application or remove it 2–3 hours after application. Please note that the washing time is not strictly fixed. It is recommended to handle it flexibly according to your individual skin condition and your doctor's advice. If the skin is already broken, calamine lotion should be avoided to prevent irritation.
