Miliaria (heat rash) is a common skin condition during summer, primarily characterized by small red spots or tiny blisters on the skin. These rashes are usually very small, resembling pinpoints or rice grains in size, arranged densely but not confluent. They are often surrounded by red halos and accompanied by mild stinging and itching sensations. Miliaria commonly occurs in areas where sweat easily accumulates and evaporates poorly, such as the neck, armpits, elbow creases, and popliteal fossae. The rash can present in various forms; depending on severity, it can be classified into several types including miliaria crystallina (clear blisters), miliaria rubra (red rash), miliaria pustulosa (pus-filled blisters), and miliaria profunda (deeper skin involvement). In hot and humid environments, miliaria tends to develop and potentially worsen. Therefore, maintaining clean and dry skin, avoiding excessive sweating, and promptly changing clothes are key preventive measures for miliaria.
