Cracks on the feet typically occur due to the following reasons: 1. **Fungal infection**: Excessive sweating of the feet, wearing closed, non-breathable shoes, not changing socks or washing feet for several days, and walking barefoot at home can easily lead to fungal infections. In such cases, attention to daily foot care is essential. 2. **Rapid metabolism**: In the absence of trauma or medication, the most likely causes are vitamin deficiencies and excessive physical activity. The soles of the feet are often in a state of friction. If the skin is dry, it is prone to cracking. If the dryness and cracking are severe, moisturizing oils can be used to hydrate the skin. Rapid skin turnover can also lead to peeling and dry cracks on the feet. 3. **Climate changes**: During seasonal transitions—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—peeling and dry cracking of the feet are common. At the end of spring and beginning of summer, when the weather becomes warmer and more humid, skin peeling is likely to occur. Similarly, at the end of summer and beginning of autumn, as the weather becomes drier and cooler, the feet may become dry and cracked. To manage and prevent foot cracks, it is recommended to use a mild moisturizing cream or oil regularly, especially after washing the feet; wear breathable shoes and socks to avoid prolonged dampness; use antifungal cream when necessary; and include foods rich in vitamins and water in your diet. If the cracks are severe or accompanied by signs of infection, prompt medical attention should be sought to avoid delayed treatment.
