Chronic non-atrophic gastritis with erosion does not generally qualify as a severe illness in most cases. This condition is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa, accompanied by mild erosions, the depth of which typically does not extend beyond the muscularis mucosae. Patients may experience symptoms such as epigastric pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, bloating, acid reflux, and heartburn; however, most symptoms are mild, and some individuals may even be asymptomatic, with the condition only being discovered during endoscopic examination. As the condition progresses, chronic non-atrophic gastritis with erosion may lead to complications such as upper gastrointestinal bleeding and gastric perforation.

In terms of treatment, most patients can achieve symptom relief within 2–4 weeks, reaching clinical remission, through oral administration of medications that inhibit gastric acid secretion and protect the gastric mucosa, along with eradication therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection when present. Adjusting dietary habits, maintaining a positive mood, and avoiding excessive fatigue also aid in recovery.

Patients should follow medical advice, improve dietary habits, avoid irritant foods, reduce stress, and quit smoking and alcohol consumption to promote gastric health. Immediate medical attention should be sought if severe symptoms such as melena or intense abdominal pain occur.
