How to treat rectal prolapse
The area around the anus has been itchy for a while, and my bowel movements have been somewhat abnormal. I was diagnosed with rectal prolapse, and I would like to know how rectal prolapse is treated?
The treatment of rectal prolapse should be determined based on a comprehensive consideration of factors such as the patient's age and severity of the condition. For young children, conservative treatment is often used, such as manual reduction combined with external fixation, in which the prolapsed rectal mucosa is gently massaged back into place and fixed. At the same time, attention should be given to improving bowel habits and reducing factors that increase intra-abdominal pressure. For adults, especially those with mucosal prolapse, injection of sclerosing agents may be used to induce adhesion and fixation between the mucosa and the muscular layer. If adults develop complete rectal prolapse, surgical treatment is primarily considered, such as rectopexy, to restore the rectum to its normal position and prevent recurrence.
Medications such as Venoruton and Diosmin may assist in reducing local tissue edema and alleviating symptoms. If patients experience severe physical discomfort, timely medical consultation is recommended.
