How to Treat Tendonitis
Disease description:
The area near the joints is always tender to the touch, and there is also some stiffness. X-rays were taken and the diagnosis was tendonitis. I would like to know how to treat tendonitis.
Tendinitis refers to the inflammation of tendons, commonly caused by overuse, trauma, or chronic strain. Below are some common treatment measures:
1. Rest and ice application: Avoid activities that repeatedly cause inflammation. When symptoms first appear, apply an ice pack for 15–20 minutes every 4–6 hours to help reduce swelling and pain.
2. Physical therapy: Includes moxibustion, acupuncture, massage, and physiotherapy to promote blood circulation and alleviate discomfort.
3. Medication: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as indomethacin and ibuprofen may be taken to relieve pain. Traditional Chinese medicine formulations aimed at promoting blood circulation and relieving pain may also be used.
4. Proper posture and body mechanics: Learn correct exercise techniques and body mechanics to prevent tendon overuse caused by poor posture.
5. Local corticosteroid injection: Inject medication, such as lidocaine hydrochloride solution, into the area with the most pronounced pain to control inflammation and reduce discomfort.
If conservative treatments are ineffective, surgical options such as tendon sheath incision and release may be considered. Rehabilitation exercises are necessary after surgery.
