Lumbar disc herniation, also known as lumbar disc protrusion, mainly presents with the following symptoms: 1. Low back pain: Persistent pain typically occurs in the waist or lower back, worsening with activity and possibly relieved by rest. The pain may radiate to the buttocks. 2. Saddle anesthesia: Numbness or tingling sensations may occur around the groin, perineum, or rectal area. 3. Radiating leg pain: Pain often extends along the sciatic nerve pathway down the lower limb, especially worsening during walking or coughing, presenting as "electric shock-like" pain primarily affecting the posterior thigh, lateral calf, and sole of the foot. 4. Muscle weakness: Damage to the affected nerve roots may lead to weakness in the corresponding muscles. For example, functions such as leg flexion, extension, or rotation may be impaired. If these symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is advised.
