How to Improve Atherosclerosis
I have atherosclerosis and sometimes experience severe dizziness and nausea. Doctor, how can atherosclerosis be improved effectively?
Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease primarily characterized by the hardening and narrowing of blood vessel walls, which affects blood flow. The following are general measures to improve atherosclerosis:
1. Control blood pressure: Hypertension is an important risk factor for atherosclerosis. Regular monitoring and maintaining blood pressure within the normal range are recommended.
2. Regulate blood glucose: For patients with diabetes, maintaining blood glucose levels within target ranges can help slow the progression of atherosclerosis.
3. Cholesterol management: Lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and reduce the formation of arterial plaques.
4. Healthy diet: Follow a low-salt, low-fat, high-fiber diet, and consume more vegetables, whole grains, and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
5. Regular exercise: Engage in at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, or 75 minutes per week of vigorous-intensity activity, such as running.
