How to treat scars
Disease description:
I have a scar from a fall I had in the past, and it's still there. I would like to know how to best treat scars.
Scars are proliferations of fibrous tissue formed during the natural healing process after skin injury, and their appearance and texture usually differ from those of normal skin. Scar management depends on the type, size, and location of the scar, as well as the individual's skin condition.
Common methods for scar management:
1. Adjust diet: Timely adjust your diet and avoid consuming spicy, raw, or cold foods, such as chili peppers, ice cream, and raw fish slices, which may interfere with wound healing.
2. Maintain local hygiene: Patients should keep the affected area clean to prevent complications such as exudation, pus discharge, or bleeding, which may impair local recovery.
3. Topical medications: As directed by a physician, patients may apply topical medications such as mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream or recombinant human basic fibroblast growth factor gel.
4. Oral medications: Under a doctor's guidance, patients may take oral medications such as asiaticoside tablets or tranilast capsules to improve local tissue formation.
5. Laser therapy: If the scar is severe, patients may require laser treatment under medical advice to effectively reduce the scar.
6. Keep the skin moisturized: Using moisturizing creams or lotions can help maintain the softness of the scar area and prevent itching and tightness.
