Complications of perianal eczema
Disease description:
I have always had anal eczema, and I have recently noticed that my condition has worsened. I would like to know what complications are associated with perianal eczema?

Perianal eczema, as a common skin disease, should not be underestimated in terms of its complications.
1. It is often accompanied by intense itching. If not effectively treated over a long period, it may lead to pruritus ani, with the itching possibly spreading to the scrotum or both sides of the gluteal folds, significantly affecting the patient's quality of life.
2. Perianal eczema may also trigger perianal neurodermatitis, with extensive lesions and lichenification of the skin, accompanied by paroxysmal itching, causing significant discomfort to the patient.
3. Perianal contact dermatitis is another possible complication, typically induced by irritants. Skin lesions may subside after removal of the causative agent, although there remains a risk of recurrence.
4. More seriously, long-standing, non-healing perianal eczema may induce anorectal diseases such as anal fissure and anal sinusitis, and may even increase the risk of urogenital infections such as vaginitis and urethritis.
Therefore, once symptoms of perianal eczema appear, timely medical attention is necessary to prevent worsening of the condition and the development of complications.
