How is nephritis caused?
Disease description:
I have a friend who is currently hospitalized due to nephritis. I was wondering, what are the common causes of nephritis?
Nephritis, also known as glomerulonephritis, is a kidney inflammatory disease usually caused by various factors. It is mainly divided into acute nephritis and chronic nephritis, with different causes:
1. Infections: Certain infections, such as streptococcal throat infections or skin infections, may trigger an immune response leading to acute nephritis, known as acute glomerulonephritis.
2. Autoimmune reactions: The body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own kidney tissues, possibly due to genetic factors or environmental triggers.
3. Genetic factors: Certain types of nephritis, such as thin basement membrane nephropathy, have a familial inheritance tendency.
4. Medications and toxins: Long-term use of certain medications or exposure to harmful chemicals may cause kidney damage, leading to nephritis.
5. Other diseases: Conditions such as diabetes and multiple myeloma can also cause kidney inflammation.
Note: If symptoms such as edema, frequent urination, increased foaming in urine, fatigue, or others occur, prompt medical attention is advised.
