Small blisters on the fingers may be associated with dyshidrotic eczema, tinea manuum, or herpes zoster: 1. Dyshidrotic eczema: Small blisters on the fingers may be a symptom of dyshidrotic eczema. The typical skin lesions are deep-seated small vesicles that are diffusely distributed on the palms, soles, flexural surfaces of fingers and toes, and interdigital areas. The vesicle walls are thick, and the fluid within is transparent. Symptoms may include itching or burning pain, accompanied by excessive sweating of the hands and feet. Topical medications such as salicylic acid ointment or cod liver oil ointment may be selected under the guidance of a physician. 2. Tinea manuum: Symptoms of tinea manuum include red patches, papules, blisters, and scaling on the skin of the hands. Oral antifungal medications such as itraconazole or ketoconazole may be prescribed by a physician for treatment. 3. Herpes zoster: Small blisters on the fingers may also occur with herpes zoster. Common symptoms include low-grade fever, fatigue, and the initial appearance of erythematous patches on the affected area, followed by the development of papules ranging from millet-sized to pea-sized. These papules rapidly evolve into tense, shiny vesicles filled with clear fluid. Antiviral medications such as acyclovir or valacyclovir hydrochloride may be used under the guidance of a physician for treatment.
