How is an anal fistula caused?

Disease description:

I have been suffering from constipation for the past six months. Later, I used glycerin suppositories and some other medications, but the constipation has not improved. Although it has gotten slightly better in the past few days, I still experience significant pain, and I suspect I might have an anal fissure. May I ask what causes anal fissures?

The formation of anal fistulas is usually closely related to multiple factors. 1. Bacterial infection is one of the main causes of anal fistulas. Because the anal canal and rectal area serve as an important channel for "waste discharge," bacteria can easily invade and cause infection, leading gradually to the formation of an abscess. Once the abscess ruptures, it may develop into an anal fistula. 2. Perianal abscess is also an important factor leading to anal fistulas. When a perianal abscess ruptures spontaneously or is incised and drained, a fistula may develop if improperly managed. 3. Rectal and anal injuries, poor bowel habits, dietary factors, occupational factors, and chronic diseases can also contribute to the development of anal fistulas. The formation of anal fistulas is a complex process involving interactions among multiple factors. Therefore, preventing anal fistulas requires a multifaceted approach, including maintaining anal hygiene, developing good bowel habits, adjusting diet, avoiding prolonged sitting or standing, and actively treating chronic diseases.
