Can spleen and stomach deficiency-cold cause flat warts?
Disease description:
My friend is 32 years old this year and has recently experienced some deficiency-cold in the spleen and stomach. Additionally, they have developed many skin growths that resemble flat warts. They wonder whether deficiency-cold in the spleen and stomach could cause flat warts.
Spleen and stomach deficiency-cold does not cause flat warts. The occurrence of flat warts is directly associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, especially infection with HPV types 3 and 5. This skin condition typically spreads through direct or indirect contact, such as close contact with an affected individual or contact with objects previously used by the patient. Spleen and stomach deficiency-cold, however, is a concept in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that refers to a syndrome characterized by deficiency of yang energy and excessive internal cold in the spleen and stomach. It mainly presents with symptoms such as stomach pain, abdominal distension, reduced appetite, cold intolerance, and aversion to cold. It has no direct connection with the development of flat warts, therefore spleen and stomach deficiency-cold does not lead to the occurrence of flat warts.
