Symptoms of Intercostal Neuralgia
Disease description:
I am 35 years old and have recently been experiencing pain between my ribs. I would like to learn more about the symptoms of intercostal neuralgia.

The symptoms of intercostal neuralgia mainly include:
1. Pain location: Pain occurs in the area where the intercostal nerves are distributed, typically presenting as band-like or patch-like pain that may involve one or multiple intercostal regions.
2. Pain characteristics: The pain is described as sharp, burning, knife-like, or electric shock-like. It is severe and persistent, sometimes occurring in paroxysms lasting from several seconds to several minutes per episode.
3. Triggering factors: Pain significantly worsens during coughing, deep breathing, sneezing, or changes in body position (such as twisting or sudden standing up).
4. Associated symptoms: In addition to pain, some patients may also experience shoulder and back pain, loss of appetite, restricted movement, and insomnia.
If similar symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
