What causes stomach pain?
Disease description:
I've been having stomach pain for the past two days, and it's been quite severe. I'd like to ask the doctor, what causes stomach pain?
Stomach pain refers to pain or discomfort in the stomach area and can be categorized into the following causes:
1. Digestive system diseases: Gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, gastric ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) often cause stomach pain. These conditions may result from excessive gastric acid secretion, damage to the gastric mucosa, or food reflux causing discomfort.
2. Functional problems: Functional gastrointestinal disorders, such as functional dyspepsia, can also lead to stomach pain. These issues are usually related to stress, dietary habits, or abnormal gastrointestinal motility.
3. Infections or medication effects: Stomach infections (such as Helicobacter pylori infection) or long-term use of certain medications (such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may also trigger stomach pain.
The severity and duration of stomach pain will influence the treatment plan. If stomach pain is accompanied by severe symptoms such as intense abdominal pain, vomiting blood, black stools, or rapid weight loss, medical attention should be sought promptly for thorough examination and treatment.
